Book an AppearanceYou Know What a Bad Per Diem Costs.
A missed calendar call that leads to a default. A consent order signed without understanding what your client just agreed to. A one-line report that says “adjourned to June” with no explanation of what happened in the courtroom. An attorney who’s never set foot in that courthouse before and doesn’t know the Part Rules.
You’ve seen it. Your clients have paid for it.
Coverage is not the same as competence. A warm body in the courtroom is not the same as an attorney who has read your file, knows the Part Rules, and can make a decision on the record when something unexpected happens.
We Don’t Fill Parts. We Protect Records.
Every appearance is handled by Fred Abramson personally or by a vetted, experienced attorney with more than 20 years in New York Supreme Court. No junior associates. No random assignments. Fred reviews every matter before it goes to court and matches the right attorney to the assignment based on courthouse, judge, and case type.
Whether it’s Fred or one of our team, your attorney reads your file before walking into the courtroom. They understand your litigation goals. They know the judge’s preferences, the clerk’s procedures, and the part’s pace. When they negotiate a stipulation, argue a motion, or handle a compliance conference, they’re advocating, not just showing up.
Substance Over Presence
We read your papers. We understand the CPLR issues. We negotiate discovery schedules that protect your deadlines, argue motions based on relevant caselaw, and push back when opposing counsel tries to slip unfavorable language into a consent order.
Court Intelligence
After 28 years and thousands of appearances across every major courthouse, we know things the published Part Rules don’t tell you. Which parts run three hours behind. Which judges expect caselaw citations on the spot. Which clerks actually decide routine matters. That intelligence informs every assignment.
Same-Day Reporting
You get a substantive written report by end of business day. The report includes what happened, what was ordered, what you need to do next, and scanned copies of any court orders. Need it faster? Let us know when you book.

Is a per diem attorney the same as a pro hac vice attorney?
No. A per diem attorney appears for a single matter on behalf of a New York attorney of record who is already admitted in New York. A pro hac vice attorney is an out-of-state attorney admitted to a specific New York case for the duration of that case under CPLR 470 and the court’s pro hac vice rules. The Law Office of Frederic R. Abramson handles both. Pro hac vice local counsel is a separate service line described on our Pro Hac Vice page.

Do you cover same-day or morning-of court appearances?
Yes. Same-day and morning-of coverage is one of our most-requested services. We confirm in 15 minutes during business hours and dispatch a vetted senior attorney with more than 20 years of New York Supreme Court experience. The Law Office of Frederic R. Abramson does not rely on a marketplace of unknown freelancers. Every covering attorney has been personally vetted by Fred.
