Coronavirus Legal Alert New NY Civil Court Order Suspends Filings

Posted by Frederic Abramson | Mar 23, 2020 | 0 Comments

The coronavirus is changing how we work and how we live our daily lives. We are all hunkering down at home. I'm writing this email on my sofa next to my dog Dylan and cat Teddy. How are you dealing with your new work arrangements?
Effective immediately statute of limitations have been suspended and New York courts will no longer accept any type of submissions, including electronic filing.
That means that attorneys are prohibited from commencing new cases and motions cannot be filed.
The New York Court Civil Court System is essentially temporarily locked down and will only hear truly emergency cases.
Since this is a fluid situation, I'm sure the court is working on solutions for dealing with our new reality.

I will work my best to keep you posted. If I can be helpful in anyway feel free to hit reply or give me a call.
